The Apache lift system utilizes a unique design including two gearboxes and plastic block lift chains. Depending on your original gearboxes, it may be necessary to replace both rather than just the one. The new lift boxes utilize a metal gear with larger block teeth. The old style uses a plastic gear with short pointy teeth, resembling a saw blade. In the case that you have the older style, it is necessary to replace both boxes because of the gear ratio difference.
On 1971 - 1976 trailers you must replace both gear boxes.
